What is Microsuction?
Microsuction is a safe and effective method for removing earwax, infections, and debris from the ear. Using a microscope for high magnification, our practitioner carefully examines your ear, then uses a small suction tube and fine suction tip to remove the wax. While the suction may produce some noise, the procedure is generally painless. If at any point you feel discomfort, simply let us know, and we will stop immediately. You will be asked to remain as still as possible during the procedure, as any sudden movement could risk accidental injury to the ear canal or eardrum.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, you do not need a referral. As ear wax removal is no longer available on the NHS, we can offer Microsuction and Ear Irrigation directly to you as a private service, meaning you can access quick and effective earwax removal.
What should I expect?
Upon our arrival we'll ask a few questions about your general health.
You will then be asked to lie flat on the couch (if you're in a wheelchair, the procedure can be performed in your chair).
The length of the procedure depends on your specific situation, but it can be stopped at any time upon your request.
Most people are able to resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. If you feel any dizziness afterward, we’ll ask you to remain seated until it passes, which usually only takes a few minutes.
